| The Logos I conceived the Symbol of The Logos before I foresaw the DaMontage. The Symbol would eventually become one of the DaMontage panels/stories after I reconsidered what I had actually done, which is, for the first time in the history of mankind, I had given The Logos a depiction in symbolic form; therefore, allowing us easier access to It's depths (which is why in part we hold symbols in such regard). My Symbol of The Logos would also establish the basis for my philosophical groundwork on how The Logos operates and our relationship to It as fellow logoi (hence the DaMontage panel and book). Here, though, I shall touch upon how I came to the Symbol of The Logos. My dad gave me a copy of an Interlinear Greek-English New Testament when I was sixteen. This particular Bible offers the reader the opportunity to look at the original Greek alongside 17th Century English, and I became fascinated with how the Greek letters spelled out logos, λόγος. Such would be the key to the Symbol. Until I came to The Logos myself, I had not been satisfied with any interpretation of The Logos. I always felt we were missing out on something huge by not knowing The Logos in full...so, I perused The Logos in a different way. I sought to symbolize It to step into It's order in order that we might finally grant The Logos It's rightful place amongst the other symbolic collection of ideas and thought processes (that which we call religious faiths, philosophical schools, etc.). Yet, how does one Symbolize something which has not been understood fully on a global scale? I did not know either, and eventually I grew tired of my efforts and put this exercise away. The Greek letters, though, of The Logos, λόγος, continued to linger with me. Perhaps, those letters would not let me go. Later on, I thought to myself, The Logos is something I consider to be energized...not static nor stagnant...vibrant and emanating...if I were The Logos, how would I symbolize myself? Remarkably, an answer came to me. To this day, I am unsure if I "heard" from The Logos or I had attuned myself to The Logos to such an extent that I was able to match a Symbol to The Logos as if The Logos truly desired to be Symbolized in this way. Regardless, the Symbol came quickly and I have not found anything better as a Symbol for The Logos. I placed the Greek lowercase L, λ, on top of a Greek lowercase G, γ, and then rounded the sharp edges with the two lowercase o's, and the Symbol of The Logos had come into Being...an ideogram made from the Greek letters of the word, Logos. My DaMontage Panel on The Logos depicts how The Logos is the Center of all yet also within all throughout all. |
