| The Way Reveals All Paths |
| The Way Reveals All Paths is one of 4 "swirl" paintings, and is closely associated with the swirl painting represented by the Hurricane of Dreams. Meaning, this story/image is meant to assist us in recognizing what is already happening here rather than summoning forth from the Unknown. Both came at roughly the same time, yet, unlike the HoD, I recognized the significance in the connection between this image and the story. The crux of the story deals with the inclination of ourselves on a path of enlightenment to call this path 'the path', or, 'The Way', and therefore nullifying any other sojourners validity just such might claim for their particular path. The story is the account of eight different sojourners who are convinced that their path is the only path to the circle of light, and that each is going to be the one to illuminate the path for the rest of us to follow. Surprised is the least of the reactions each feels when all eight arrive at the center and see each made it in spite of their nullifications and lofty validations. Each asks, "What good, then, is the path if any path leads to the center anyway?" When a Ninth person appears as if someone had just snapped their fingers in a magic act, all is revealed. "Not 'any' way, The Way," instructs the Ninth. "Any path worth the salt and focus of the one using such can only lead to here if that path is forged by The Way. Paths can be altered, manipulated, even used vainly to dictate non-essential observances and ordinances on us, yet, The Way can not, and those who seek to be on The Way recognize that even a path is being measured as either on or off--", and on and on goes the Ninth. There are many paths, fewer pathways, and only One Way. The image depicts this axiom by showing that all 8 paths turn at the same bends (the direction of The Way) and all 8 finish into the circle. None of the 8 are better than any of the other 8, because The Way brought out the best of all 8. What is not depicted is the path of the Ninth, which is developed in the story/image The Pathway of Acknowledgment. Yes, a simple design, yet, with a profound message. Of course, when one has the opportunity to see the rest of this series, which depicts other numerous conjunctions of the 8 paths NOT going along The Way, the simplicity of this design is appreciated through the harmony inherent in the design to the message that The Way reveals All Paths. |
